PTI Challenge - Glitter Borders

Hi guys....I'm here with a new card that I used some new techniques on (new to me :). I'm also advocating using new products with old. I had a brick & mortar scrapbook store for many years, and I saw first hand how people (myself included) eat up new product, usually more than they can use. So my way of encouraging using old and new is to mix both together. I loved the technique of using score tape to adhere glitter, so this is the way I adhered the glitter to my card, I was amazed how well this worked. I also used some alcohol inks to make the background on a shiny card surface. I tried using another technique I saw on YouTube making layered ribbon die cuts, however the ribbon didn't cut through all the way with my cuttlebug. If anyone knows of a technique that works for this, I'd love to know. Finished off the card with some Stewart Superior Memory Mists (also an old product I had in my store...this was way before 'Mr. Huey' and the other new 'chic' mists, but they work just as well :). Used a stamp from PTI 'We Go Together' set (I love all the sentiments in this set, I'm sure I'll be using them a lot)!

Here's my card and a link to my video:

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  1. Pretty card.
    Love that bow.
Your use of alcohol inks is great. I never had much success with them as they sit in my drawer.

  2. Very pretty Suzanne! I love using score tape with glitter too...really holds it on there well! Love your tulle bow! I too have a lot in my stash and mix the old with the new. For my stash that wasn't getting love, I donated it to my kids elementary school art teacher. I KNOW that she'll use it.

Have you tried an iron on fabric stifferer to die cut your ribbon and fabric? Not sure of the exact name but I think Erin Lincoln showed a shot of what she uses when she showed the barette she made with fabric on one of her countdown posts this month.
